About Softball
SBMSA Softball provides a fun and competitive softball program for girls ages 5 through 15. We play on five lighted softball fields, centrally located on the campus of the Spring Branch Elementary School, 1700 Campbell Road.
Our five and six year olds play 6U which includes a combination of "coach-pitch" and t-ball. There are no strike outs in 6U to encourage players to hit a pitched ball. This is the girls introduction to the game and we would like for it to be fun and instructional for all. All teams are formed by school or geographic area.
Our seven and eight year olds play 8U which is "coach-pitch". We would like to see the girls advance to a point where they can consistently hit, throw and catch as well as learn the basic concepts fo the game. All teams are formed by school or geographic area.
The 10U program is made up of nine and ten year old girls. In 10U, "kid pitch" is combined with "coach-pitch". We encourage girls to learn to pitch as well as how to hit off of "kid pitching". At 10U, girls will try-out and be drafted to teams by our coaches.
The 12U program is made up of eleven and twelve year old girls. 12U goes by ASA rules and teams are drafted after girls try-out.
Our older girls consisting of 13, 14 and 15 year olds are assigned to 15U teams and generally coop with area softball and sports associations. There will be some travel in volved as games will be played around the West Houston area.
At the end of the year, all-teams participate in play-offs to crown our league champion. This is always a fun and exciting time for both the girls and the parents.
Additionally, a number of Sports Association all-star tournament teams are formed other the name "Houston Heat" and participate in invitational, regional and Amateur Softball Association national tournaments.
An information flyers regarding registration will be handed out to all SBISD elementary school students when they come back to school from the Christmas holidays. At the same time this web site will be available for registration on-line.
