2012 Softball Registration

Registration is now open - click here to register. Registration will be from January 1st to February 3rd. Try-outs for 10U and 12U will be on February 4th.

Also, please note, 15U registration will end on January 27th and try-outs will be on January 29th.

In-person registration is Saturday January 14th from 9am to 12pm and Wednesday, January 18th from 6pm to 8pm. All in-person registration will be at the SBMSA Memorial Middle School Complex between Mac Haik and Memorial Middle on Attingham Dr.

SBMSA 2012 Pony (ages 13-14) and Colt (ages 15-18) Announcement:

Pony Registration

Pony regular registration opens on Jan. 1 and it closes on Jan. 21. Late registrations will continue until Jan. 28, space permitting.

Colt regular registration opens on Jan. 1 and it closes on Jan. 21. Late registrations will continue until Feb. 1, space permitting.

Refunds will be provided through the first game for registrants who make their high school teams.

Age Cutoffs:

Pony Age Cutoffs:

Please note that 8th graders, regardless of their age, can play Pony baseball.

Pony age group is 13 - 14 for players with birthdates between 5/1/97 - 4/30/99.

Colt Age Cutoffs:

Please note that high school students, regardless of their age, can play Colt baseball.

Colt age group is for 15 - 18 for players with birthdates between 5/1/93 - 4/30/97

Tryouts:

Pony tryouts will be Jan. 28.

Colt tryouts will be during Jan. 30 - 31 and February 1st.

More details will to come regarding specific times for tryouts.

Games:

Pony games start in early March and will finish by the end of May.

Colt games start in mid-February and will finish in early May.

Below, you may note some important dates that pertain to this year's spring season. The information and dates provided in this message pertain to SBMSA Junior Baseball, which includes: the Rookie division (5 and 6), Midget (7-8), Pee Wee (9-10), Bronco (11-12). All ages are based on age as of April 30, 2012.

  • January 1, 2012 - Online registration open
  • Jan 10 (6:00 PM - 8:00PM) In Person Registration (Memorial Middle School baseball fields)
  • Jan 14 (9:00-Noon) In Person Registration (Memorial Middle School baseball fields)
  • Jan 18 (6:00 PM - 8:00PM) In Person Registration (Memorial Middle School baseball fields)
  • Jan 20 - Online Registration closes
  • Jan 21 - Late Registration opens
  • Jan 25 Late registration ends (Registration is cut off at this point)
  • Jan 29 and 30 - Tryouts for 9-10's and 11-12's
  • Feb 1 - Feb 7 - Rookie League and Midget League team formation. Pee Wee and Bronco Drafts (Exact dates To Be determined)
  • Feb 18 SBMSA Baseball Clinic
  • Week of March 12 SBISD Spring Break
  • Week of March 19 - Regular Season begins
  • March 24 - Opening Day celebration

SBMSA Partners with Memorial Hermann

Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center and Spring Branch-Memorial Sports Association (SBMSA) have formed a new partnership that will ensure SBMSA athletes stay healthy on and off the field.

For the next three years, Memorial Hermann Memorial City will serve as the official healthcare provider of SBMSA, providing benefits such as:

Medical Coverage / Medical Equipment

  • Game day medical support for contact sports, including football and soccer
  • Priority access to Memorial Hermann affiliated physicians and allied healthcare professionals who understand the importance of rapid injury diagnostics and treatment and will work in the athlete's best interest to enable a safe return to the playing field.
  • Weekly injury assessment clinics on Wednesdays from 5p-6p at MMS fields
  • "Fast track for injury" program at the Emergency Center at Memorial Hermann Memorial City
  • ImPACT concussion testing and Cardiac screening for athletes 12-years and older
  • First aid kits to be provided to all head coaches annually
  • Donation and placement of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's) at Spring Woods Middle School, Pine Shadows Elementary School, Guthrie Center, Spring Branch Education Center and Spring Branch Elementary School (upon reopening in 2012).

Training/Education

  • Coaches, athletes and parents will have opportunities to attend seminars by Memorial Hermann trained professionals. Topics could include injury prevention, nutrition and sports supplements, burnout and overtraining, physiology of exercise and more.

Scholarships

  • Four annual scholarships to each of the following sports: football, soccer, basketball, junior baseball, senior baseball and softball.

Memorial Hermann Memorial City also will serve as the "Olympian" sponsor of the SBMSA 50th Anniversary Gala.

SBMSA Brick Campaign

As part of the effort to provide financial support for upgrading all SBMSA sports complexes we are selling bricks which will be placed as the foundation for walkways at 3 SBMSA sports complexes which represent four SBMSA sports:

  • Memorial Middle School (MMS): football and baseball
  • Spring Branch Education Center (SBEC): soccer
  • Spring Branch Elementary School (SBES): softball

We invite you to recognize a child, celebrate a team, honor a coach or remember a loved one by the purchase of one or more commemorative bricks. We hope to include past, present and future SBMSA participants, so spread the word!

The brick options are as follows:

  • 4x8 (3 lines, 18 characters per line) - $100
  • 8x8 (6 lines, 18 characters per line) - $250
  • A larger 16x16 with a variety of options is available - $800
