Team Assignment
SBMSA reserves the right to form teams at its sole discretion based on any criteria it sees fit. However, typical team formation is by school, geographic area, or draft. You will be contacted by the league when teams are formed. If you are in a division that will require a draft, you will be contacted shortly after registration closes with a skills assessment time and location. Practice is to begin in late August with games beginning in September. It is the INTENT of the league for all games to be completed prior to Thanksgiving.
Practices
Practice times, days, and locations will be determined by the Head Coaches. These WILL NOT BE KNOWN until after registration closes and all players have been assigned to teams. All players MUST BE REGISTERED before they are allowed to practice, try-out or be assigned to a team.
School, Address and Age Requirements
Roster ages for Fall Sports are the players' ages as of July 31, 2010, for boys and girls. Be sure to enter your child's birthday accurately. Falsifying birth date, school attendance, or address may preclude your child from participating in our program. Proof of residential address may be required. Please put the school that your child will be going to in the Fall of 2010 on the registration form. If you move or change schools after registering it is your responsibility to update the league promptly.
Game Rain-Out Policy
It has always been our policy for teams to show up for scheduled games unless coaches are notified by the commissioner.
Proof of Age
The Association will only accept a copy of a birth certificate or passport as proof of age. It is the intent of the league to only require a player to provide proof of age once. However, it may be necessary to provide a copy to the league more than once. The Association apologizes in advance for any inconvenience caused. It is important that the Association verify the age of each player to assure adherence to our rules.
There are multiple ways that you can provide this proof to the Association:
- Mail a copy of your proof of age to Ryan Flores, 1506 Glourie Houston, TX 77055. (please do not mail if registering after August 18, 2010)
- Fax a copy of your proof of age with cover sheet to (713) 739-6699 Attn: SBMSA Registrar (24 hours a day)
- Scan a copy of it to rflores@cima-energy.com (24 hours a day)
- Bring a copy to one of the in-person registrations (Check Website for Dates and Location)
Insurance
Limited secondary accident insurance is provided for each registered paid participant.
Coaches and Volunteers
The Association does not pay nor employ any coaches. All coaches are volunteers. All adult coaches and volunteers are required to register thru the website and submit to a criminal background check. We encourage each parent to participate in our league by coaching or volunteering. If you are interested in being a Head Coach please contact the division commissioner of the age group you are interested in.

Junior Varsity Tackle and Varsity Tackle Skills Assessments are scheduled for Sunday, August 22nd. THIS DATE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Please be prepared to attend a skills assessment anytime between 11am and 8pm on that Sunday. You will be notified via email or telephone the exact time of your skills assessment. Fund Raising and Donations
Each year the Association, with your help, provides reduced registration and equipment to needy players in our area. It is with your donations that this is possible. The Football Board would ask again that you consider donating to not only help with our capital needs, but to help a financially needy family give the gift of Athletics and Football to their child.
In addition there are other ways that your patronization of sponsors would benefit SBMSA. These sponsors are displayed on the associations' web page.
- Switch your Electricity Provider to Spark Energy thru SBMSA
- Donate Reward Points to SBMSA from American Express
- Designate SBSMA as one of your Charities on your Randall's card
There are a few very large capital projects that are in early planning stages and we are looking for families or companies to donate funds to help make them reality. If you are interested in helping please contact Mike Rupe at mdr@cima-energy.com.
Proposed Projects include: Complete Renovation of MMS Fields and a new Concession Stand and Permanent Restroom's at Spring Forest Middle School.
Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers to help with Skills Assessment - please email Beth Kelly at kelly6@earthlink.net if you are interested in volunteering.
Opening Day will be on Saturday Sept. 11th. Please email Beth Kelly at kelly6@earthlink.net if you or your company is interested in volunteering or donating. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
